Update: People's 40th Birthday Celebration

Yesterday was so great.
My friend, Justin, and I went to Ocean Beach to celebrate the 40th birthday of People's Organic Foods Market. The place was packed but we were able to quickly find a parking space and enjoy the festivities!
Ain't no party like an eco-friendly party.
Justin was surprised that yesterday was my first time ever to be at People's; I've lived in San Diego my entire life and I've never been there before! It was amazing to see how healthy and eco-friendly the market was. I was especially surprised at the fact that they sold shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion/wash in bulk. I'm gonna have to shop there from now on!
After briefly snooping around the market, we went outside and stood in line for the free vegan food.
Can you say anxious?!
Those veggie burgers from Amy's sure smelled yummy! And who can say no to organic corn on the cob and fresh-cut watermelon? This is how my plate looked like.
...and everything but the watermelon was sprinkled in ground black pepper. =)
Mmm, mmm. All that was left on my plate were a kernel-less corn cob and a watermelon rind. ;)
Another reason Justin and I attended the party was because the Animal Protection and Rescue League (APRL) was there and I wanted to chat with them for a bit about upcoming volunteer opportunities.
Say "Daiya cheese" Danny, Bryan, and Claudia!
It was nice to see my fellow volunteer-mates again. =) They were out there having people sign up to go vegetarian/vegan for at least a week.
Who's up for the pledge? =)
They are such great people! Can't wait to volunteer with them again.
Before leaving the great party, I picked up a small piece of the vegan carrot cake they had sliced up for everybody. I brought it home and shared it with Rick. Delicious.
Organic cake, instant yes.
Justin and I had such a great time and I can tell everyone at the event enjoyed themselves as well. Thanks for the 40 years of amazing service, People's!

(By the way, the reason why Rick couldn't make it to the celebration was because he was working. *epic sad face* He and I are gonna have to go to People's together sometime, then it'll be his first time there!)
